These days, Calderdale is a household word - part of the fabric of local life - but when the Borough was created 50 years ago no one knew exactly what it meant. Boundaries were redrawn, traditional attitudes, alliances and democratic certainties were overturned and the old way of doing things was swept aside by new realities.
Journalist Michael Peel has monitored the people, the council, its characters and Calderdale’s colourful past ever since the day the borough was formed. He will highlight some of the many challenges, major events and changes for better or worse.
