Heptonstall Road - Bridge Lane's c1900

New Road Bottom meets The Lanes c1900. The guidepost was first erected around 1899. There were many places catering for the needs of thirsty men in the vicinity (ladies never went into pubs) such as the Bull Inn, the Spread Eagle and the Black Horse.
